If you’re into color… and corrections, this is right up your alley.
Also, I just got GoodMorning! up on my IMDB page. Finally, an editing credit! w00t

Hey there! Just got the trailer for Reflection up. I worked on this with our friends from Escape Entertainment and had as much fun making it as I do watching it.
Also, Reflection got a couple nominations from the Action on Film International Film Festival so if you’re going to be in LA around July 28th you should check it out.

Soooo DFF is in a bit of a transition period right now. We’re in the middle of moving from Savannah GA to the land of LA. Updates will, most likely, be few and far between during this time but once we’re set up you’ll be getting news straight from industry professionals, insiders with their fingers on the pulse of the city that supplies the world entertainment. Sounds like fun right? I can’t wait.
We’re still finishing up Extraction and have already started on scripts for another short and a super-secret side project. More on that when… there’s more on that.

Dustin, Robb, and Nick in front of the Trustees theater.
Extraction ended up winning Best Production Design. Can’t say I wasn’t hoping for more, but hey, this is just the beginning of this films life. As soon as we’re finished with the final stereo mix Extraction will be sent out to festivals, beamed through the internet tubes, and broadcast throughout the multiverse. Prepare yourself.

The SCADemys is an annual award show hosted by the Savannah College of Art and Design. All senior thesis films from the past year (usually around 120 in total) are judged on categories similar to any other film awards show: Best Screenplay, Best Director, etc…
Extraction has been nominated for the following:
Best Narrative - Robert Greene
Best Director - Robert Greene
Best Editor - Dustin Parsons
Best Cinematographer - Joesph Volpe
Best Production Design - Robert Greene
Best Special Effects - Robert Greene
Last night was the screening for the nominees. In total, there was over 5 hours of back to back movies. I was there for about 3 hours and I saw a lot of good short films, so we’re in for some competition.
I was also nominated for Best Editing for Reflection, a short film I collaborated on with our friends at Escape Entertainment.
Tonight we find out who the winners are. Keep your fingers crossed!

So the other day Nick, Robb, and I recorded the footsteps for every character, for the entire film. This took a while but we did it all in one setting.
Flickr page has more photos.
Nick, watching us as we watch the monitor and try to hit our marks.

So Extraction is coming along swimmingly. We’re being good film makers and sticking to our schedule. Setting up a Google Calendars account for our Post team and hosting weekly meetings definitely helps. Of course, Robb (our director) is furiously running between departments, making sure everyone’s working slave labor hours and not playing GTA4. He struggles somewhat when trying to express what he’s looking for in Color Correction but I let it slide on the account that he’s color blind.
Yesterday Robb and I paid a visit to Nick Kneece, the Zen master of Sound Design. I helped out with some Folley and walla ADR, doing my best impersonation of some dead-ish people. Zach Slocum, one of our actors, was also there recording some lines.
Every thing’s coming together, I can’t wait to show off of the finished product. I’ll put up some screen shots or something soon. Words don’t do this film justice.

Dustin here with a quick update:
The design for darkforestfilms.com is pretty much finished, although I’m sure we’ll continue to tweak it whenever we feel like a change. Encoding our movies turned out to be far more taxing than previously thought so it has taken longer than expected, BUT I recently figured out a good method and should have our Short Films page up and running in no time.
Extraction (our current project) is in post-production with our VisFx guys working hard while I continue to cut it to pieces. Picture lock is slated for April 24th, then it’s off to our Post Sound dept while I work on color correction. The film will be completely finished on May 26th. We plan on getting into a few film festivals so we can’t put it on the site until after it’s had its run.
I guess that’s about it for now.
